CHC51015 Diploma of Counselling is on the Priority Qualifications List and Eligible for VET Student Loans
The Diploma of Counselling at IKON Institute of Australia is designed to provide graduates with an applied knowledge and skill set for working in the counselling and helping professions. The face to face component will provide students with a supportive environment to participate in classroom discussions, learn from a variety of specialist trainers (many of whom are current practicing therapists) and to practice your skills.
Students are required to attend 1 day per week of classroom training
This course has a minimum 50 hour supervised work / field placement in an approved organisation.
A key skill in learning to become a counsellor is learning to work with people. At IKON, we recognise that the best way to learn to work with people is to learn with people – that includes building up rapport with peers, participating in valuable classroom discussions and simulated counselling sessions and from leveraging the experience of our teaching staff, all of which have current, professional experience in the field of counselling. The course accommodates those currently working with only one day of classroom attendance per week.
Counselling skills are readily transferable to a broad range of job roles.
Diploma graduates emerge equipped with a strong foundation in counselling theory and practice. Typically professions include; community service workers, teachers, human resource personnel and religious leaders. The Diploma of Counselling is also suitable for those seeking to establish their own counselling practice & to complement other qualifications.
The Diploma of Counselling is currently on the Student VET Loans priority qualification list and eligible for a student loan capped at $10,000. You can find more information relating to VET Student Loans here.

The Diploma of Counselling with IKON offers credit towards the Bachelor of Social Work and Social Planning at Flinders University.
