He has years of experience providing both professional development and personal leadership training to a range of audiences. Brad has extensive education in community service, health, neuroscience, young people and drug and alcohol issues.

Simon Paul, Director & Head of School Counselling & Psychotherapy

Bachelor of Commerce, Diploma of Transpersonal Counselling, Diploma of Community Welfare, Cert IV Training & Assessment.

Simon is a trained counsellor and has extensive experience in counselling private practice, and also the commercial and youth training sectors. He has provided VET level accredited training as well as a series of tailored Professional Development training programs throughout South Australia. He is now operating as a director of the IKON Institute of SA.


Paula Gillespie-Fotheringham, Head of School Creative Therapies

Paula Gillespie-Fotheringham has over 15 years experience working in the field of mental health and social care. As an art psychotherapist Paula has worked extensively with children and young people, particularly around issues of self-harm attachment and developmental trauma together with adult work focusing on themes of depression, anxiety, loss, anger and violence. Paula started Manchester Art Psychotherapy in 2011, which grew to be an organization providing art psychotherapy services to many schools and government agencies across the North of England.

In 2011 Paula developed the Manchester based Foundation Course and following positive feedback expanded this training across the UK and Europe and is due to publishing a companion book in late 2015. In June 2014 Paula relocated to Australia and has recently taken up the role of Head of Faculty for the Creative Therapies Department at Ikon Institute.  Paula maintains a private practice and research role specialising in supporting therapists and mental helping professionals prevent burnout and vicarious trauma.

Paula is registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC) in the UK and with the Australian and New Zealand Arts Therapy Association (ANZATA) in Australia.  Paula completed her Art Psychotherapy MA at Leeds Metropolitan University and Postgraduate Diploma in Art Psychotherapy at Latrobe University, Melbourne.  Paula is an approved clinical supervisor and trained in Emotional Freedom Technique EMDR and CBT.

Paula is passionate about training art psychotherapists of the future and introducing art therapy to people for the first time.  Paula is committed to creating research to ensuring art therapy has a robust evidence base for the future.


Shannon Mesnil
Head of School Community Services

With qualifications in Performing Arts, Education, Mental Health and Counselling, Shannon is committed to supporting people as they explore who they are and how they want to be in the world.

Through the use of positive psychology, art based therapies, narrative, strengths based and client centred approaches, Shannon works with clients, enabling them to recognise, develop and utilise the internal skills and resilience that are an intrinsic part of each and every one of us.

Currently working as a lecturer, counsellor and contractor supporting youth and community services agencies, Shannon also delivers best practice and evidence based work collaboratively with organisations.

Working in the government and non-government sector as both a practitioner and senior manager, has provided Shannon with a holistic grounding and understanding of the context in which counsellors, therapists and youth workers are expected to work.

Jane Shute, Finance and Office Manager

Jane joined the IKON Institute in 2011 bringing over 30 years of experience in the Administration and Finance sector.  Previous experience included working for accounting practices, television production, manufacturing and a private girl’s school.

Jane embraces the mentoring and management of the administration team, the submission of government compliance reporting and providing financial data to the Board of Directors.
Jane supports the philosophy of the courses IKON delivers and strives to be conscious of the importance of being kind to the psyche, love life and be happy.

Kathy Swaffer, Marketing Manager

Kathy joined IKON and the education arena in late 2012.  With a previous background in retail marketing including Ed Harry and the Peregrine Corporation, Kathy has thrived on sharing the news of IKON’s courses, workshop and professional development program with the community.

Kathy’s role involves ensuring a consistent marketing and branding approach across the Institute, and developing strategies to enhance the IKON brand.


Kunthear Yi, Community Services Education Support Officer & Enrolments Officer

Kunthear is a wealth of knowledge. She is the new Education Support Officer for the Community Services School as well as continuing her role as the the Enrolments Officer. She has also completed of her Cert IV in Business Administration. All this, whilst also providing invaluable support to Jane with additional administrative tasks! This will be Kunthear’s 4th year at IKON and she is here to support all Community Services students and any enrolment queries.

Liz Scott, Placement Officer

IKON is pleased to support students with our designated placement co-ordinator. Liz’s role is to assist all students with their placements, undertake placement administrative tasks and liaise with placement organisations’ supervisors inclusive of visiting organisations to expand placement opportunities.  All of these effort’s continually strengthen our relationships with industry leaders and potential employers of our students.

Gillian Birch, Creative Therapies Education Support Officer

We welcome Gillian Birch who is the new student support officer for the Creative Therapies School.  Gillian will continue to support TAT students, ensuring they have a positive learning experience and assist them in achieving their goals through the provision of support services.

 

Joanne Jacobs, Compliance Officer

Bachelor of Engineering, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

With many years of training management and compliance experience within the VET sector, Joanne brings a continuous improvement focus to compliance within IKON. Previous job roles have seen her working with individuals to develop and enhance their personal and leadership skills and she thrives on seeing others reaching their potential.
She strives to maintain a positive attitude and is excited to join the team at IKON.


Lisa Jansen, Counselling and Psychotherapy Education Support Officer

Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy, Advanced Diploma of Western Herbal Medicine, Certificate IV in Frontline Management

Lisa has an extensive background in educational administration and student support, working across the VET and Higher Education sectors for ten years. She provides support to the Diploma of Counselling and Advanced Diploma of Transpersonal counselling students, helping them to navigate the requirements of their course in order to successfully achieve their learning goals.

Alicia Chiera, Course Advisor

As Course Advisor, Alicia’s naturally supportive nature and knowledge of IKON’s courses helps prospective students make a confident decision about the course that best suits their needs and goals.

Alicia’s extensive knowledge and professional relationships with Schools, Government Departments, Community Servcie Organisations, Job Providers and councils enables her to use relevant knowledge and experience to support IKON’s prospective students to find the most suitable course.

Sarah Sanchez, Receptionist

Sarah is one of our first point of contact for staff members in the SA reception area providing phone support, student enquiries, workshop registrations and data entry.

Since joining our administration team in early 2015 Sarah has since accepted a traineeship with IKON. Sarah is now studying the Certificate IV in Business Administration which she is striving to complete in 12 months all while she is working full time.

We appreciate Sarah previous studies in horticulture, she has revived and continues to keep our office plants healthy.

Fiona Lineham, EA to Brad Seaman

Bachelor degree in Nutritional Therapy, Master practitioner in Neurolinguistic programming, Timeline therapy and Hypnotherapy

Fiona joins IKON from London with an extensive background in executive assistance from many sectors, including Private Equity, Property, Insurance, Digital and PR. Fiona brings with her a wealth of knowledge having completed her degree in the UK at a private college very similar to IKON and looks forward supporting IKON’s CEO with the day to day running and development of the company and services IKON offers.


Lisa Duggan, State Co-ordinator QLD

Lisa is an experienced expressive art therapist, counsellor and educator. Lisa has gained multiple skills as an allied health professional working in Respite Care and Residential Aged Care. Lisa runs a thriving practice in Brisbane, specialising in working with individuals and couples in the areas of anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and life transitions. She adopts a range of therapeutic approaches and techniques to initiate insight and facilitate change and where applicable, integrates yoga and mindfulness practice into her art therapy sessions with clients.

Drawing on a corporate background Lisa also designs and facilitates mental health programmes for the workplace.  Lisa is inspired to bring forth simplistic methods for creating positive change.

 

Jane Vincent, Administration and ESO Officer, QLD

Jane has vast training, learning & development and administration experience predominantly in the retail, hospitality and franchise sector. She has worked for some of Australia’s leading training providers    and Franchise systems.

Jane’s direct training experience includes Small Business Management, Business Owner coaching and in field training,development of training resources, on-line training platform management, OH&S management, administration and Registered Training Organisation auditing and reporting.

Jane has numerous qualifications including a Diploma in Project ManagementDiploma in Business Management (Australian Institute of Management)Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAA) and a Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety

Dee Strandly, State Co-ordinator WA

Diploma of Transpersonal Art Therapy , Certificate in Holistic Counselling

Dee Strandly is a registered Art Therapist and Holistic Counsellor, with extensive experience in Sound therapy and Healing.  Dee has a strong background in Training and Development, and has predominantly worked In Mental Health where she worked with clients who were affected by drugs and alcohol, Mental health Issues, Eating Disorders, Grief and Loss and even Veterans of War.

Dee has a passion for Humanity and for those from culturally diverse backgrounds particularly those in developing countries.  This has led her to establishing her own Counselling, Art Therapy and Mentoring Project in Malawi Africa. She built this project from the ground up, collaborating with local experts and volunteers, where she designed and facilitated counselling services and Art Therapy workshops to Women and children who where victims of Emotional and Physical abuse, those affected by Drugs and alcohol, orphans, street children, sex-workers and many others.

Dee is now focused on providing student support and training to the IKON Institute, as well as continuing to run workshops and provide private therapy sessions from her practice in Fremantle Western Australia.

Rebekkah Jamieson, Business Development,  WA

Rebekkah Jamieson provides student mentoring and administrative support to our West Australian Campus, as well as partnering with organisations to promote the IKON Institute’s brand and upcoming courses. Rebekkah comes from a recruitment and business development background.

Rebekkah is passionate about helping others work through the overcoming challenges that life presents, whether small or large she believes that this is a natural strength which has lead her to study a Bachelor of Counselling that will see her qualified in 2016.
