Rebekah discovered art therapy as part of her recovery from a life-threatening trauma while living in the UK sixteen years ago. While maintaining a successful career in digital media as a designer/producer, she committed to several years of studying an Advanced Diploma and Graduate Diploma of Art Psychotherapy at the Ikon Institute of Australia where she is also now a member of the academic team.
Rebekah works in private practice with clients across a wide spectrum of areas including chronic disease, mental health, disability, trauma recovery, drug and alcohol abuse and family relationships. Her main practice is based in the Adelaide Hills at an integrative health clinic. She also runs weekly group art therapy sessions at Flinders University as part of the Community Re-Entry Program for adults with acquired brain injuries. As a recent survivor of cancer Rebekah is also dedicated to her volunteer work as an art therapist at the Cancer Care Centre.
Rebekah is committed to raising the profile and recognition of art psychotherapy as a valuable and effective option for people seeking an alternative choice to mainstream treatment approaches. She gives regular public talks about art therapy and the role of creativity in healing.
Rebekah is also a civil celebrant and takes much joy in creating meaningful marriage rituals for people in love. She also finds great reward in writing and performing highly personalised funeral ceremonies. She is an avid cinephile and loves playing the piano, reading, painting for pleasure, traveling with her husband and spending time at the beach with her dog.
