Graduates typically have opportunities to work in areas such as Juvenile services, Youth Homelessness, Drug and Alcohol Services, Mental and General Health Services, Vocational Programs, Educational Programs, Community Centers, Recreational Programs, Schools and Residential Care.

It is recommended that prospective students have an awareness, sensitivity and passion for issues facing young people today, or a passion for understanding these.

Delivery Format

The Dual Diploma is designed to support learners who have additional time requirements, so classroom training is limited to one day per fortnight and involves lectures, observation, role-play and discussion.
In addition students should allow 4-6 hours per week of self directed study to complete research, readings, assessments, field trips and practice and one day per fortnight of online learning.

Students also undertake 144 hours of work/field placement in the youth work sector in order to integrate the skills and knowledge developed throughout classroom-facilitated sessions.
